Hello!
My name is Emma Greenwood, the artist behind Emma Caitlin Fine Art. In a nutshell I create truly bespoke portraits of both pets and wildlife in coloured pencil, but really my vision is so much more than this. My work is renowned for its attention to detail and realism and each piece is individualised to the animals unique character. Below I have delved a bit more into my journey, my vision and a bit more about me.
About me
From the UK, living in the small town of Newmarket, renowned for its horse racing, I discovered a passion for fine art, and have been working hard since 2021 to scale it into a business. I have been fortunate enough to exhibit my work at the National Horse Racing Museum here in Newmarket, and have exhibited at some local fayres throughout the summer of 2023.
I live at home with my dog Luca, a Saluki x Greyhound who I rescued as a puppy in August 2022. He is very true to Saluki character; impatient, lack of obedience, vocal but with a heart of gold and loyal to the core.
I also have a horse, Robin, a Chestnut gelding who tests my patience more than I could ever describe, but I do a bit of low level competing.
It is my love for my own pets that drew me towards creating pet portraits. I have always dreamt of having my own portraits done of my animals and so I thought it would be lovely to be able to provide that for other people. Whether they are with us or not, it is a real pleasure seeing their beauty magnified in the form of art. As gorgeous as photography is, It is immeasurably more unique.

My Journey
I had always had an interest in creating art, having done it at GCSE, but like most artists stories, I struggled to see a way to create a career out of it back then. I went on to get a degree in Criminology and Psychology before coming back to work with horses, which has always been an innate passion for me. I picked up coloured pencils during the pandemic and started to draw friends pets. It went on social media and it suddenly sparked a lot of interest in people wanting commissions. My business started to grow as It provided the space for me to work part time, allowing me to grow a portfolio of pet portraits and since then I have met some wonderful clients and their furry friends.
During this time I have dabbled in some wildlife pieces, and this is where I have found my true passion lies and I have done a lot of thinking about the future of my business and the vision I have.

My Vision
Sir David Attenborough, and his conservation efforts, have been a huge inspiration for me and my work going forward. My work endeavours to capture not just the beauty in wildlife, but also highlight their significance and importance within this world. My aim is to create artwork that engages the eye, opens the mind and generates discussion around why populations are declining, and what we as a society can do to help. I am particularly concerned around the conservation status of many wildlife species here in the UK.
Did you know that 50% of all British species are in decline?
This is largely due to urbanisation of the UK, which is has left us at one of the most nature depleted countries on earth. Though this is a devasting fact, it means that we as a society are able to take action and help.
Sometimes, all it takes is to be shown the path. I will be creating various projects with a conservational undertone, and will strive to work with various conservation charities along the way to support their efforts, and get other people to do the same.
